Need to know
"If I am making horror films, I might as well learn about it," he says. "You can fabricate things only to a certain extent. But when you are telling a story you need the knowledge to relate it." His forthcoming film Shaapit is the third of his trilogy of horror flicks after Raaz and 1920.
The producer-director surfed the net and got in touch with a psychic meditation teacher (Steve) in Thailand. "He put me on to his assistant to learn the hows and whys," says Bhatt.
"It is a mindboggling, scary world. I want to scare others through my films so I might as well experience it too. It is a hypnotic state of mind; self-induced hypnotism, almost clairvoyant. You have the ability to contact spirits. You can do aura readings and connect with the spirit world."
Recollecting his encounter with the psychic meditation teacher he says, "First, you imagine things and then he asks questions for which you have to think deep and you feel you are answering to the medium." The experience also encompasses past life regression.
Bhatt adds that the experience has made him more sincere, honest and diligent. "It enriches you spiritually and you also understand that the answers you are seeking are within you," he adds.
