Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passes away at the age of 79 after a prolonged illness. He was admitted last night in a suburban hospital in Mumbai and is survived by his three children
Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passes away at the age of 79. The actor had been admitted to the hospital last night in a suburban hospital in Mumbai and had been battling ill-health for a long time. His nephew and actor, Randhir Kapoor has confirmed the news. He said " Yes, he passed away at 5.15. We are all very sad about it. He had kidney issues." Shashi Kapoor was born in 1938 and is survived by his three kids Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor.
Kapoor had chest infection in 2014. Before that, he had undergone bypass surgery as well. He was later discharged from the hospital. Known for his work in films such as Deewar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Kabhie Kabhie, Trishul, Shaan, Utsav, Waqt etc. The 79-year-old has been staying away from the limelight and Bollywood for a long time. He had won the National award for 3 times. He was awarded 'Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award' in 2010.
Shashi Kapoor's biography was launched in May 2016, titled titled 'Shashi Kapoor - the Householder, the Star', has been authored by film journalist Aseem Chhabra and it attempts to delve into the nature and nurture of the 78-year-old actor. He was also felicitated with the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award' in 2014.
