When the idea of a musical extravaganza as a tribute to Gulshan Kumar and to celebrate the three decades of T-Series was being discussed, singer Sonu Nigam suggested that Tulsi render a track in memory of her father at the show.
As Sonu has been close to Gulshan Kumar and his family for years, he knew about the father-daughter connect. Tulsi's brother Bhushan Kumar then requested composer Jeet Ganguli and lyricist Manoj Muntashir to compose a song that described their love and affection for their father.
When the duo sat for the music session in the T-Series studio and gave the first draft to Bhushan and Tulsi, they instantly fell in love with the lyrics of 'Mere Papa' and gave it a go ahead. During the recording, Tulsi couldn't control her emotions and broke down. The recording had to be cancelled and was rescheduled.
Tulsi feels 'Mere Papa' will surely move anyone who hears it.
