They fight like cats (and mouse), land each other in deep trouble but they're still the most loved cartoon characters on TV. Tom and Jerry who have been entertaining us since we were kids celebrated their 70th anniversary yesterday. CS gives you more information on them:

>>The house cleaning lady seen in some episodes is named Mammy Two Shoes. She's supposedly a bear but her face is never shown.
>>When Tom meets a girl, Jerry always winds up with her.
>>Tom rarely succeeds in catching Jerry, mainly because of Jerry's cleverness, cunning ability, and luck. Interestingly enough, many of the title cards show Tom and Jerry smiling at each other which seems to depict a love-hate relationship rather than the extreme annoyance each displays towards the other.
>>Despite the frequent violence, there is no blood or gore in any of the episodes the cartoon series.
