What's it about: You have been there, seen that. So when Sandra Bullock plays a Meryl Streep-esque over- powering book editor who loves to throw her weight and attitude around, you know what's to follow.
Sandra's assistant Ryan Reynolds has to deal not just with her tantrums but also offer to walk down the aisle with her to ward off some immigration issues that could compromise her job.
Then there are those cheesy moments, meet-the-parents dialogues and an ending that you could predict right after taking a look at the movie's bland poster!u00a0

In The Proposal, Sandra gets to show off her age with grace. Like a drug with no expiry date, she wafts like a feather through the plot effortlessly.u00a0 Her comic timing is superb and not forced or prompted with smart punch lines and stand-up jokes.
Reynolds uses his looks and charm to camouflage his acting flaws smartly. There are scenes where he matches Bullock's zeal and effervescence perhaps a notch higher. Reynolds and Bullocks have a likeable chemistry that isn't forced to suit the casting.u00a0

What's not: The Proposal falls flat on many fronts due to its lack of originality in either plot or execution. Watching the movie will gave you multiple deja vu's of other romantic comedies.u00a0
Right from the first frame, the movie sets itself a dangerous trap where it's bound to fail once the jokes and situations run dry.
In a time where scripts are getting smarter, wittier and dialogues razor-sharp, The Proposal struggles to shake the dust off its wobbly shoulders.
What to do: If you are ready to ride the same old ride without wanting something new, The Proposal won't disappoint you.
