Taapsee Pannu
When training with young hockey enthusiasts to perfect her act in Soorma, Taapsee Pannu was taken aback by the dedication the athletes harboured for their sport. The hockey jersey, she says, was always an element of pride for them, who spoke about the blue tee with passion.
Pannu is now motivated to gift her jersey from the film to a hockey enthusiast. She hopes her gesture would in turn encourage them to pursue the game further. Pannu says, "The young athletes had worked hard to earn that jersey. I had decided while shooting that I would help one young dreamer head in the right direction. My jersey is merely [a costume] for the film. But I hope it pushes them to try and earn one of an [actual] team."
Over the upcoming weekend, Pannu will take to her Facebook account to initiate a contest urging players to share videos showcasing their hockey skills and drills. "I am looking for an honest, passionate and interesting applicant - someone who genuinely wants to dive into the field of hockey, and wishes to follow his/her dream. I love it when people show me hockey tricks, especially because I too have learnt a few. So, if I find some epic trick videos, that will be a bonus," she says.
