Supriya bids bahu roles goodbye

After playing the witty Bahu on television for 15 years, Supriya Pilgaonkar is now all set to play a Badi Maa on Sasural Genda Phool. CS catches up with her:



No roles
I have played a bahu for 15 years on Indian television, but now I think that I am too old to play a bahu and too young for a saas. Unfortunately the Indian television has very few roles for women of my age. There isn't much to experiment with.

I would love to play a detective or an adulteress, but no one has roles like that for
me. The Indian audience will hardly accept it and as a result there are no such roles in the industry.

Role play
I have been acting since the last 25 years. Even though I have dabbled in various media, theatre satisfies me the most. In television, I have been typecast but, on stage, I still play a lover or a vamp and get appreciated for it. It satisfies my need as an actor by providing me variety that I'm always looking for.

Dancing queen
Though I emerged as a good dancer in Nach Baliye 1, I was a learner at that time. But I gave it my hundred percent. After that I started suffering from lot of physical problems. Then I took to yoga that helped me a great deal. Even now, I get offers to perform at various shows and events. I am also sometimes told that I can just perform without much of practice. I am against theu00a0 idea of going on stage unprepared and risking letting people down.
