Eleena Banik lets her paintings do the talking. Her exhibition titled, My Voice Against Violence as a Woman is inspired by the violence happening in the world not only in its most obvious forms like terrorism or war, but also in various subtler ways.
She tells CS, "In my paintings I have amalgamated traditional and contemporary lifestyle. I have taken references from newspapers and some other famous paintings. My paintings are colourful, vibrant and at the same time they bear a serious message."
She makes it a point to speak her heart out with the brush. "One of my paintings, Death of her Son II is a real life story about Rizwan's death which flooded the newspaper recently."
And her silent message does seem to be reaching out. "People are coming and are appreciating my work. People like Dolly Thakore, Harsh Goenka, Prakash Bhende and many more have complimented me on my art."
The exhibition is running at the Jehangir Art Gallery till November 8.
