Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor took a dig at the ugly spat between her contemporary Kangana Ranaut and filmmaker Karan Johar by saying that she found the frenzy surrounding it 'entertaining'.
Karan Johar
In an interview with NDTV, Sonam Kapoor said," I said it was very entertaining. Every morning I wake up and it's great bathroom reading. It's mudslinging of the worst kind. I don't know Kangana. I know Karan very well. I find Kangana very entertaining and that's about it. I don't want to comment on something that looks opportunistic, honestly. And I believe you are a feminist when you build other people up, especially other women. All I can say is that I respect the choices that she has made in her career till now."

Sonam Kapoor further added, "I made a decision when I was very young after my second or first 'Koffee With Karan' - it was that I would not do mudslinging when other actors and actresses are concerned because I would not do it for TRPs, I would not do it for a channel and I felt if I have to give an opinion or be opinionated, it would have to be for something that is relevant and I don't think dragging someone down or criticizing someone or having this public spat - I find it very distasteful. You can set examples without washing your dirty linen in public."

Karan Johar had laughed with Kangana Ranaut as she branded him the 'flagbearer of nepotism' on his chat show. But, in hindsight, the filmmaker probably felt it was not funny. KJo attended a session at the London School of Economics where he reportedly said he was "done" with Kangana playing the victim card.
"You cannot be this victim every time who has a sad story to tell about how you have been terrorised by the bad world of the industry. Leave it then," he said. On 'Koffee With Karan', Kangs had said KJo would be perfect to play a "stereotypical Bollywood biggie, who is snooty and intolerant to outsiders."
"She was my guest and I had to hear what she had to say. When she says 'flagbearer of nepotism', I am glad she knows what it means, but I don't think she has (actually) understood its meaning. What is nepotism? Am I working with my nieces, nephews, daughters, cousins? What about filmmakers, not from the film industry, whom I have launched - Tarun Mansukhani, Puneet Malhotra, Shakun Batra and Shashank Khaitan. You give these people film careers and they have a platform to stand on and that's the reverse of nepotism," Karan Johar had said.
