Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor lashed out at media for speculating over her personal life and writing gossip about her 'engagement' to rumoured boyfriend and Delhi-based businessman Anand Ahuja.

Sonam Kapoor in a series of tweets denied reports of her engagement and criticised the constant speculation over her personal life.

While sharing her statement on Twitter, Sonam Kapoor wrote, "There's so much going on in this world but my so called personal life is what you want to cover.. #notengagedatall (sic)."

The statement read, "For all the news outlets out there, who are speculating about my personal life and writing unnecessary gossip about it because they think it makes good copy. If your sources are my friends and family then be rest assured they are not really my 'friend or family' and if I do get married or engaged I'll announce it on my own. So stop writing c''p and stick to your real job of journalism."

She added, "What's sad is that a women's worth is quantified through this shit.. why aren't male heroes asked this."

Sonam further tweeted, "What's scary is that most of these columnists are women. Not realising that a women's worth is not quantified by a ring on her finger."

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja have been rumoured to be dating for quite some time now. Though the couple has remained tightlipped about any official confirmation, they never shy away from PDA on social media.

Anand Ahuja's family has an apparel business and he has launched his own label - Bhane, a brand which Sonam oftens wears.

Sonam Kapoor guards her personal life fiercely and does not feel it is necessary to talk about it in public. The 'Neerja' actress says she is open about a lot of aspects of her life but believes who she is dating should stay private.
