After missing its July 14 date, Shraddha Kapoor-starrer 'Haseena Parkar' biopic postponed again to avoid clash, claims director Apoorva Lakhia

Shraddha Kapoor was all set to display her acting prowess in her career's first biopic, Haseena Parkar that was scheduled to hit screens on August 18. But, the actor will have to wait a tad longer after its initial release date, July 14.
A source close to the development reveals, "The decision to postpone the film was taken last week. Anil Thadani (the film's distributor), the producers and director Apoorva Lakhia realised that August was cluttered with too many releases. They realised that Haseena will have to compete with two biggies that are releasing in the weeks before - Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Harry Met Sejal (August 4) and Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha [August 11]. What makes it worse is that besides Haseena Parkar, there are three releases lined up for August 18 - Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton and Partition 1947."

The source adds, "The makers are confident of their film and don't want it to get lost in the clutter. That's why they decided to push the release."
Lakhia confirms the development, saying, "We collectively decided to postpone the film so that it can get enough screens and a worthy run at the box-office." The team is expected to make an announcement soon about the new release date.
This is the second time that the crime drama, based on the life of Dawood Ibrahim's sister, has been postponed. Haseena Parkar was earlier scheduled to release along with Ranbir Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos, Sridevi's Mom and Saif Ali Khan's Chef remake. The film bowed out of the race, as did Mom and Chef, letting Jagga Jasoos enjoy a solo release.
