Though we are used to seeing actor Apara Mehta in elaborate ethnic wear in all her soaps, in reality, the lady is fond of wearing denims, T-shirts and kurtis off screen. And her Indian clothes have to be truly special. Apara shares her shopping habits with CS:
Shop hopping
I absolutely love shopping. Whenever, I get some time off, I head to the stores in my area. Trust me, I am trying really hard not to be a shopaholic, especially since I am so impulsive in my buys.
I have a fetish for shoes, clothes, jewellery, you name it. My daughter is the one who keeps me in check, saying, "Mamma, you don't need this. You already have it."
I remember when she was young I used to pick her up from school and head straight to Linking Road for shopping. She's always been my shopping partner.
I love...
Clothes. I have a huge collection of sarees from all over India. You will find Puneris, Orissa saris, South silks, etc in my wardrobe. But sadly, I don't get time to wear a saree most of the days.
I am usually in jeans and tops. I have fixed this tailor who makes harem pants and tops for me in every possible colour. I find them extremely comfortable.
In shoes, I love high heels, especially the Italian ones. Once in a while, I like to wear strappy sandals and boots.
Around the world
I get a lot of my western clothes from UK or USA as they cater more to the plus size women. When it comes to my salwar kameezes, I shop at a boutique called Kalpataru in Juhu. They have lovely Gujarati designs.
OMO on Linking Road is good for casuals. I love the malls of Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore. Wherever I go for a show, I manage to take a day off for shopping.
