Her National Award win for AR Rahman's composition Vaan Varuvaan (Kaatru Veliyidai, 2017) behind her, Shashaa Tirupati is looking forward to her next track in Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold.
"The song is called Mono Beena. It's a peppy dance number with an old 'jazzy' feel to it. It has been composed beautifully by Tanishk Bagchi. The song revolves around Kolkata and features Akshay. I enjoyed recording it," she says.
The singer, 30, has recorded a new song with mentor Rahman. Even though she refuses to divulge details about the number, she fails to contain her excitement while talking about reuniting with the Academy Award-winner. Rahman, she says, helped her discover her versatility.
"When I worked with him on OK Kanmani (2015), which was remade in Hindi as OK Jaanu (2017), he made me sing three different types of songs. One was a classical number, another was a pop ballad and the third, a conventional song with a hint of R&B, rap and hip-hop. He helped me discover my skills as a singer," she says. Tirupati, who has Bollywood hits like The Humma Song (OK Jaanu, 2017) and Baarish (Half Girlfriend, 2017) to her credit, expresses her desire to work with composers like Pritam, Amaal Malik and Vishal-Shekhar. "They have a unique style of composition and are able to get the singer to emote better. I would love to collaborate with them."
