The past few months have been frenetic for Shahid Kapoor as he juggled the Batti Gul Meter Chalu shoot and the prep for Arjun Reddy remake. With wife Mira Rajput in her final trimester now, the doting husband has decided to slow down on the work front. Kapoor, we hear, has chalked out his work schedule in a manner that will allow him paternity leave in September.
With the Arjun Reddy remake going on floors mid-August, an insider reveals that the actor will shoot for a month before turning his attention to daddy duties. "Shahid will take a few weeks off in mid-September after he wraps up the first schedule of Arjun Reddy, to spend time with Mira, Misha and the newborn," says the source. Meanwhile, the producers of Battu Gul Meter Chalu have supported Kapoor's decision to stick to Mumbai promotions in August. "Shahid had been by their side when the film ran into trouble owing to one of its former producers. This is their way of reciprocating his dedication. The makers have decided against having city tours as part of the promotional plan," adds the source.
Bhushan Kumar, who is producing both films, tells mid-day, "Shahid is a committed actor who believes in striking a balance between his personal and professional life. Being a parent is a special feeling. It is important that we make time for those closest to us. I understand Shahid's need to be by his wife's side at such a time." Praising Kapoor for honouring his professional commitments before his parental duties come calling, Murad Khetani, co-producer on Arjun Reddy, says, "As a parent myself, I understand Shahid's need to be with his family. He has been accommodating in terms of dates. He will film a schedule of Arjun Reddy before he takes time out."
