Shahid Kapoor said, "The controversy has been going on for the last one year. All of you want us to talk about it, but I think the right thing will be to let the officers who are capable of dealing with it do their work. This is the time when Sanjay Leela Bhansali, producer of the film, needs our support. He will never want us to make this situation more serious by reacting to it. All I want to say is that the film is ready to be released on December 1. All Indians will be proud of this film. The reason behind it is that it celebrates the culture of India. It throws light on all aspects of the film and people should also watch this film to make their own decisions."

'Padmavati' is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie went through its share of controversies with a fringe Rajput group, Rajasthan's Shri Rajput Karni Sena, vandalising the sets of the movie a couple of times, and even manhandling the director once.
They are said to have issues with how Bhansali is handling the equation between Padmavati and Khilji. It was also reported that playing Khilji had taken a toll on Ranveer's mind and consequentially, he actually had his friends worried.
Ranveer Singh plays the role of Alauddin Khilji, Deepika Padukone essays the character of Rani Padmavati and Shahid Kapoor plays Maharawal Ratan Singh.
'Padmavati' is all set to hit the screens on December 1.
