Former beauty queen and actress Sayali Bhagat feels that fitness is a way of life. "A great body is one of the primary requirements of our profession. But I believe that working out hones our mental skills as well. I practise target training to improve my concentration and focus," says the lissome lass. Sayali shares her fitness routine with CS readers:



Diet wary
I am a healthy eater per se. As a rule, I totally avoid fried stuff and junk food. Throughout the day, I eat small meals to maintain a high rate of metabolism. I include a lot of protein, fruits and nuts in my diet and control my carbohydrate intake. I try to have an early dinner as often as possible. Basically, it's about more exercising than eating.u00a0

On target
Besides going to the gym, I do a lot of martial arts as well. I am practising target training for the past few months. It includes kickboxing, Kung fu and bit of other forms as well. It has helped me immensely. These arts not only require physical strength but also concentration. That has helped me build my focus, now I can remember things a lot better and think with greater clarity. And they are great for self defence.u00a0

Variety is the spice of life
Though I go to the gym often, I find it very boring to pump iron six days a week. My gym workout includes core functional training, which is absolutely draining. So, I indulge in other forms of exercise like swimming, martial arts, dancing and yoga. That helps me stay excited about my workout regime, which is very important for me. Most people quit exercising as they hate repeating the same stuff.

Sword fighting
It involves working out with various Samurai sword fighting techniques. As it uses you entire body, it's a complete form of exercise. It helps tone your back and butt. Swordfighting works on your core muscles, which is a great thing. Your co-ordination and mind body connection also gets better.u00a0
