Salim Khan has a tradition for gifting his trophies to anyone who floors him with their performance or movie. The latest recipients are the A Wednesday team. Though the film released in 2008, it was in the news recently after it bagged a National awardu00a0-- the Indira Gandhi award for Best First Film of a Director.

A few days ago, Salman Khan's dad called up A Wednesday producer Anjum Rizvi and invited him over along with the team to his Bandra home. Director Neeraj Pandey and co-producer Shital Bhatia were present.
Says Anjum, "I was taken by surprise by the phone call. The invitation was out of the blue! He told us that the film excelled in every department and was particularly impressed by the story outline."
Salim Khan had seen the film and before the National awards presentation ceremony, he wanted to give them an award. He took the A Wednesday team further by surprise by taking them over to his trophy collection and handing the award he had received for Best Writer for Zanjeer to them.
Adds Anjum, "We were overwhelmed by his gesture. It was an emotional moment for him as well as us. He told us that the Zanjeer trophy was dear to him and he was now gifting it someone he thought had made a special film. Though A Wednesday has bagged several awards, this was singularly unique and very special."
