The actress makes her return after a gap of more than two decades

She became Asia's first recipient of BAFTA (for Gandhi in 1983), not to forget the National Award and several other accolades following it. However, Rohini Hattangadi hasn't been equally active in Marathi cinema as much as she has been in the Hindi film industry or regional theatre. However, she's finally making her comeback in a Marathi film after a gap of 22 years.u00a0

Rohini will soon be seen in Satish Rajwade's upcoming film where she's playing the mother to Atul Kulkarni's character. On being asked what kept her away from regional cinema - especially given its acclaimed rise over the past decade - the veteran actress points to luck. "I really don't know why and how I managed to stay away from Marathi cinema for such a long time. Perhaps I was busy with Hindi films - both commercial as well as artsy - alongside theatre," adds the 61-year-old actress.

So what made her sign the dotted line this time around? "I liked the story because it deals with the complexity of marriage between two modern individuals. Values are changing and I like the people involved with this film," says Rohini before further stating, "There's no rush for me because I'm happy in my space as theatre is still my first love and I can wait for something interesting to come my way. Like I wasn't expecting a beautiful film like Munnabhai MBBS at all but it happened, didn't it?" signs off Rohini. u00a0
