Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha
A Punjabi production and singing debut to her credit, Richa Chadha is geared up to mark her directorial debut with a short film set in the future. As what may be seen as an ideal V-Day gift for beau Ali Fazal, the actor has roped in the latter to feature in the outing.
The actor filmed for the currently untitled project, a satirical comedy set in 2025 that deals with the issues plaguing people as a result of unchecked population growth, last week. To credit, she only has Fazal, who she refers to as her "support system". "It is always exciting to work with him because he is a fabulous actor. We managed to wrap up three days' worth of work in one. That is testimony of his dedication," she says, further heaping praise on designer Shaahid Amir and make-up artist Tanuja Dabir for enabling a smooth production.
Given her love for satire, it isn't surprising that Chadha, who also wrote the script, chose the genre to mark her foray into direction. "I have always wanted to explore satire. I am glad my friends trusted me and came on board on such a short notice. I look forward to casting more deserving actors in unconventional parts."
