H&M has released its spring 2011 video lookbook for women, which was posted on YouTube on December 8, confirming that retro-inspired looks will be a major trend next season, not only for high-end labels, but also for the Swedish fast fashion chain.


H&M has released its spring 2011 video lookbook for women, which was posted on YouTube on December 8, confirming that retro-inspired looks will be a major trend next season, not only for high-end labels, but also for the Swedish fast fashion chain.

In the nearly three-minute long clip, Swedish model Frida Gustavsson struts towards the camera against a Spartan backdrop in several sheer white garments, as well as a pair of high-waisted pleather shorts. Similar to the high fashion catwalks staged this past September, H&M's collection is dominated by long full vintage skirts.

H&M is hardly original in putting a particular focus on the mood of the '60s and '70s, with brightly colored shapes that are short and sharp alongside a more romantic silhouette that is long and elegant. This past month during the pre-fall 2011 collection presentations in New York, retro chic looks were abound during the catwalk shows for DKNY, Moschino Cheap & Chic, Roberto Cavalli, and Oscar de la Renta.

For women, expect to see the following spring trends at your H&M store:

Silhouette: Long and loose or short and sharp

Colours: Misty makeup tones, navy, white, beige, yellow and pink

Patterns and prints: Flowers, animal prints, graphic prints

Materials: u00a0Stonewashed cotton and Tencel, suede, linen mix, fine jersey, chiffon and voile, organic and recycled materials

Key Items: Trousers in different shapes and styles, maxi dress, jersey top, blazer jacket

Key accessories: Natural leather bag, belt, sandals and clog
