Looks like Karan Johar's upcoming film, an adaptation from Amish Tripathi's Immortals of Meluha is finally taking some concrete shape.
Karan, who bought the rights from Amish, has handed over the project to Ayan Mukerji. And Ayan in turn has picked none other than his close friend Ranbir Kapoor to play a lead role in the film.
Says a source, "Initially Karan was keen to direct the film but now it will be Ayan. Picking Ranbir was a unanimous choice. Ayan has already started work on adapting the book into a screenplay. The other parts of the trilogy will be decided upon later."
The project is set to go on the floors next year. Initially, there was buzz that KJo was planning to cast Shahid Kapoor in the film. The filmmaker is now believed to be busy with another scipt. Ayan and Ranbir remained unavailable for comment.
