Chennai: Rana Daggubati-starrer "Ghazi", based on the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistan-deployed submarine during India-Pakistan 1971 war, has won over filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. He feels the underwater war drama has excelled.

"Riveting show by the captain and his crew. Both on screen and off screen. Team Ghazi excels. Congratulations Rana," Rajamouli tweeted on Sunday.

Directed by Sankalp, Rana played Lt. Commander Arjun Varma in the film, which has released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

The film, which is titled "The Ghazi Attack" in Hindi, also stars Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni and Taapsee Pannu.

"Ghazi" is partially based on the book "Blue Fish", penned by the director himself.

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is a partner with A.A. films for "The Ghazi Attack".

Karan tweeted: "'The Ghazi Attack' holding strong! Box office growth and tremendous appreciation! The team is grateful! Thank you...a sleeper hit on its way."

The story is about an executive naval officer of the Indian submarine S21 and his team who remain underwater for 18 days.
