Rahul Roy
He charmed his way into people's hearts with a series of romance sagas in the '90s, but Rahul Roy couldn't bank on his early successes to make a mark in Bollywood like his contemporaries, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. However, the actor is set to try his luck in cinema yet again with Welcome To Russia, a comedy-drama to be helmed by debutante director Nitin Gupta.
Having kicked off filming for the venture last week in Russia with a local crew, Rahul Roy tells mid-day, "I'm happy with the way the film has commenced. It's being shot well, with sufficient attention being given to the technical aspects, the storyline and music." Talking about his character Arsan, a Russian-Indian official with vested interests, Roy says, "I play a high-ranking cop in Russia, one who is also a marksman. He is corrupt and involved with the Russian mafia. You do not learn if Arsan plans to help the government, or become a Russian don until the end."
As is evident from the brief, Roy will be seen in a distinct look for the Neole Films production. Sources suggest that he will be colouring his hair for one of the six avatars he will don for the venture. "I'm excited to pull off this role. We're eyeing a year-end release."
