Mumbai: When Rahul Bose set out to direct "Poorna" -- a biopic about a teenager who became the youngest girl in the world to scale Mount Everest -- he knew he wanted to shoot mostly at real locations. But shooting on the highest mountain is a wish that couldn't be fulfilled.
Rahul, who has acted in and even directed the film, shot a few scenes at the house where the real life Poorna Malavath -- a tribal girl from Telangana -- used to stay. Talking about it, he said in a statement: "When we started filming 'Poorna', I was certain we should shoot at as many actual locations as we can.
"So, we shot at Poorna's village, Pakala, her actual hut, the actual location (Bhongir) she learnt rock climbing on, and at HMI, Darjeeling where she learnt mountaineering. "We would have shot on Everest if we could have, but I doubt my crew from Bombay would have survived." Produced by Rahul Bose Productions, Raay Media Pvt Ltd and co-produced by Amit Patni, the film will release on March 31.
