Raftaar's dancehall-inspired single, Baby Marvake Maanegi, which released in May, was quick to find its way to the playlists of music aficionados.
The video, which features Moroccan-Canadian actor Nora Fatehi doing justice to Remo D'Souza's choreography, has garnered over 35 million views.
It appears that among the song's admirers is American hip-hop star Shawn Mims, aka Mims (above right), who sent Raftaar his rehashed version of the song, prompting a collaboration.
DJ Blackout and Mims
The Indian rapper will team up with Mims for the song's recreated version, which will be produced by Grammy Award-winning record producer and composer DJ Blackout (above left), best known for his single, This Is Why I'm Hot.
Raftaar tells mid-day, "Our country has a lot of talent, and a legacy in music. The time has come for international artistes to shift focus towards India, instead of Indians looking to the West for inspiration and probable collaborations. I'm humbled by Mims' gesture. I would love to work with him on my next track as well."s
