After almost 100 films and 500 songs, Himesh Reshammiya wears many capsu00a0- producer, composer, singer and actor. And so, for his new film Radio, he's gotten rid of his trademark cap. CS talks to the multi-talented Himeshbhai about his filmi journey that began at the age of 16:
WHO: Himesh Reshammiya
WHAT: Talking about his various vocations
WHERE: Worldwide Media, Andheri
1.Producer
I started earning at 16 by producing serials for Zee TV. My serials had big stars, grand locations and concepts like corporate wars, which weren't explored in Indian television. I made serials like Andaaz, Amar Prem, Aashiqui, Dum Dama Dum, all of which were huge successes.
2.Writer
Since childhood, I have been a huge movie buff seeing almost every movie that released post 1970. This passion in the scripts that I wrote for my serials. I have written the story of Ishq Unplugged, my next film. However, writing is not something I am truly focussed on.
3.Music director
As a kid, I had a passion for music. I trained in semi-classical music under my dad. In fact, I wanted to get into the industry as a music director but I wasn't getting the desired break. So, I switched to production. However, I used to regularly compose songs and had 300 tunes in my kitty before I actually turned a composer with Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kiya in 1998. Salman Khan fulfilled his promise of giving me a break.
4.Singer
My voice had a slight nasal twang, which people said would work for background music but not as a lead hero's voice. I took the plunge in 2005 with Aashiq Banaya Aapne and it was a huge hit.
In fact, my career as a singer has been more successful than that of a composer.
5.Actor
I want to prove myself as an actor with Radio. I have attended a lot of acting workshops, to come across as natural as possible in the film. Besides Radio, I have four more films in the pipeline.u00a0
