A hit formula in the '90s, reincarnation seems to have failed to catch the fancy of the present-day cine buffs. Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon-starrer 'Raabta', which had the same theme, collected a paltry Rs 15.93 crore in its opening weekend, thanks to the not-too-flattering reviews and poor word of mouth buzz.'

Trade analyst Akshaye Rathi says, "This film is a case of collective failure. The content was not engaging and entertaining for the audience; that resulted in negative word of mouth. After a poor day one, the collections hardly picked up over the weekend. It seems unlikely that the numbers will go up now. I also feel that there wasn't enough buzz to attract the crowd."

Box office analyst Girish Wankhede doesn't agree with the 'not enough buzz' part, but feels that the film didn't meet audience's expectations. "The production values were great, but there was no novelty in the storyline. There were decent footfalls on the opening day, but those who saw it didn't think it was anything like the promos promised."

Wankhede dismisses the perception that the ongoing Ramzan season has hampered box office business. "Irrespective of festivals or cricket, good films always work," he adds.

Behen Hogi Teri, which competed with Raabta at the box office, also bit the dust, managing only R1.3 crore in its three-day run.
