Purab Kohli is presently weight training to bulk up the muscle he lost during the two marathons (Mumbai and Delhi) he participated in. Apart from his traditional routine, Purab is also doing some functional training.

The actor who was featured in lifestyle magazine Men's Health says he was introduced to the new method by his friend Prameet Kotak who specialises in this alternative form of workout.

Strengthening core
Purab explains, "Functional training every day body movements to develop your muscles. It's as simple as lifting a heavy bag or maintaining a proper posture. It involves using your body weight to strengthen the core."

Similar to core training, the exercises involves running in an open space with a parachute tied to your back or lifting gunny bags and throwing them around. "It reminds me a lot of my school days, when one would jump around and do stuff.

The parachute is used to offer resistance and then, you sprint with it. I had great results with the exercise routines and it really increased my stamina and strengthened my core. Right now, I am packing on some muscle with weights and I think functional training offered me a great platform to start off with," he concludes.

Purab's functional training lasted for around three months and he plans to re-start it now that he's bulking up. "I will do a few weeks of functional. It definitely changed the way I look at doing small things like walking properly, or sitting in the upright position."
