The two actors haven't been paired before
Director Priyadarshan wants to bring together his favourite actress Tabu and Aamir Khan in a film on AIDS. If he pulls this off, it will be the first time the duo will be seen together. Though the two exclusive actors were seen in Fanaa, they didn't have any scenes with each other.
No hitches in sight
Priyan confirms Aamir's presence in the 95-minute realistic, yet-untitled film on AIDS. As for Tabu, he says, he'd love to have her on board and sees no hitch in the pairing. "I wanted to make this film a year back. But I wanted to see the reaction to my other realistic film Kanchivaram. Now that I know my audience is as open to watching my more realistic films as my comedies, I've approached Aamir for my film on AIDS."
In his excitement about the project, Priyan forgets he was supposed to do the film with Akshay Kumar. "It was Aamir from the beginning. I wanted an actor whose voice could take the message to every cross-section of the audience. Aamir has loved my idea. Now he wants to see the script."
It takes time
Priyan says it would take him three months to write the script. "A lot of research is involved. Making a film on AIDS is not the same thing as making a comedy. Both require different kinds of discipline." Though Priyan is happy to work with Aamir for the first time he isn't exactly keeling over with excitement. "I can make the film with any actor. But bringing Aamir into the project definitely ensures a wider audience. The very motive behind a film on AIDS is to make sure the message reaches far and wide."
