Writer-singer Priya Saraiya talks about how husband Jigar inspires her music and also working on Haseena biopic
Priya Saraiya
Priya Saraiya is on a roll. Wife of Bollywood composer Jigar Saraiya (of Sachin-Jigar), she is among the most sought-after female playback singers in the industry. Following up hits like Sun Saathiya (ABCD 2, 2015) and Gulabi (Shuddh Desi Romance, 2013), Priya has delivered one more soulful number, Haareya, in Meri Pyaari Bindu.
"Besides singing, I also wrote the song [Haareya]. It's a breezy and lighthearted love track. I have also crooned a love song in 'Haseena: The Queen Of Mumbai'. Since the story is sensitive and mature, the song had to be soulful, and required deep poetry," says Priya.
Given that most of her work has been with Sachin-Jigar, does she feel more comfortable associating with them than with other composers? She explains, "We have always been a happy working family, even before I tied the knot with Jigar. The only advantage of being married to him is that we get some more time to discuss a song over a drive or at home," she says, adding that they have both inspired each other's musical sensibilities. "We come from different schools of music. That encourages us to explore various genres."
