The Movies I Loved Growing Up
The actress picks her flicks...
The Sound of Music: When the video cassette player came home, along came a bunch of English movies and this was one of them. I have seen the film umpteen times. Any guest who would arrive had to see the video player and the movie. At that time there was the novelty of watching a film at home with family and friends.
Star Wars: This was again one of those growing up years movies. Sci-fi movies have always been a class of its own and as youngsters there is this added fascination there is a special aura attached to it. Skywalker, Jedi Knights, Princess Lea all these characters in the entire series of films remain etched in my memory.
Dil Chahta Hai: When I saw this movie, I had never been to Goa. I watched it with great wonder as there was so much of Goa in it. As I was brought up in New Delhi away from the sea and the beach these places had a very special charm for me.
In fact this movie made me wish that someday I could travel to those fantastic beaches which I did much later. Moreover it was a cool film with a lingo to match something which we youngsters could relate to.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: There was Shah Rukh Khan in it! The entire canvas of the flick was fascinating with the love and romance in the air. I still remember that ghanta from the film!
Sholay: This is one of those films everyone has seen and who has not wants to see simply for being what it is and what it will remain forever.
