Film and Television Producers Guild of India's President Mukesh Bhatt has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes to curb black money
Film and Television Producers Guild of India's President Mukesh Bhatt has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes to curb black money. He says the entertainment industry will not be impacted by it.
"It's a good thing. But the film industry is not impacted by it at all. We don't deal in cash. The film industry has been completely corporatised and cleaned of all cash dealings," Bhatt, a well known Bollywood producer, told IANS.
"From the year 2000 onwards, the industry doesn't deal with cash money. So we are not impacted by this," he added.
To give effect to Modi's decision to denotify Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes to counter black money, the central government on late Tuesday notified the changes.
Bhatt was earlier in the news for supporting filmmaker Karan Johar during the controversy surrounding the release of "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", which featured Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.
