ISLAMABAD: Tehreek- e- Taliban Pakistanu2019s ( TTP) spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan, who was responsible for the terror attacks on activist Malala Yousafzai and at the Peshawar Army School, escaped from the custody of the Pakistan Army during an anti- terror operation being conducted on the basis of information extracted from him, a news report said on Saturday.
In an audio recording released on Thursday and shared via an online private messaging platform, Ehsanullah claimed that he along with his family had managed to escape from the custody of Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies on . anuary . . . Ehsanullah, who became the spokesperson for the breakaway . amaatul Ahrar faction after the TTP split, had voluntarily turned himself in to the intelligence agencies on February u00a3 , u00a0 . . u009d , and remained in custody even since. He had shared extremely sensitive and important information while in custody, which led the security forces to smash the local and international networks of the TTP and . amaatul Ahrar.
Several terrorists from the outlawed groups were arrested based on his leads, they added.
But Ehsanullah escaped during one such operation.
AGENCIES Armed and dangerous Ehsanullah is responsible for several terror attacks in Pakistan, including the Wagah border bombing of 2014; the suicide attack on Christian community members celebrating Easter at a Lahore park in 2016; and the killing of nine foreign tourists in Gilgit- Baltistan in 2013.
