The 38-year-old mother-of-one who is still the quintessential item girl of Bollywood admits that she's quite partial towards dance-based television shows as she loves dancing more than anything. In a tête-à -tête with CS, Malaika shares a usual day in her life, the secret behind her flawless figure and much more:
Jill of all trades
I'm actually very good at it. I don't have a particular mantra. When I wake up in the morning, I try to look forward to my plans, and hope that it would be a better day than yesterday. I think I'm lucky to have a solid family structure. Everybody is there to support and lend time. We live together and that's the best part. Besides, I enjoy whatever I'm doing, be it an item number, producing a film or judging a talent show.

Spot the best
I find it challenging to spot the potential of a contestant, and to make the right choice. It is almost mandatory to be able to pick the right talent, and to have the responsibility to push that person to go the next level. I don't believe in discouraging people until and unless they are really horrible on the stage. But otherwise, I encourage people to bring out the best in them. As a judge, one needs to be conscious of what one is saying. After all, it has an impact on people.
Fit to the hilt
I'm very particular about my workout, as well as of my diet. I go to the gym regularly. I do yoga and pilates at least three to four times a week. I'm very, very particular about the timing of my workout and the food I consume.
A typical day
I wake up daily at seven am irrespective of my schedule. I drop my son Arhaan to school and then head to the gym. If I'm working, shooting or anything else, I'll engage in that. If I am not working, I'm home, taking care of my house, probably cooking and every once in a while, friends come over. That's a typical day.
Donning many hats
I call myself a supermom but I know there's difficulty in almost everything I do. I just try to face them and overcome each one of them. I also accept the challenge to make it worthwhile. Of all the things I do, I find dancing the most hectic. Yes, it's ironical but then dancing takes daily rehearsals. And it's not like you go to the studio and it's done in a day. It takes a lot of effort, coordination and of course, time. u00a0
