At a time when Indian video-streaming portals began to gain popularity among the masses, Permanent Roommates actor Sumeet Vyas was touted as the Shah Rukh Khan of the web world. Three years after making his acting debut on the web, Vyas will feature in the Bollywood film, Veerey Di Wedding, which sees him in the role of Kareena Kapoor Khan's love interest.

Vyas admits that at the time, he wasn't aware of who he was auditioning for, but inferred it involved big names, given the privacy the studio maintained during the screening process. "When I got a call for the audition, neither the co-stars nor the production house was named. I guessed that it would involve big names, because, in smaller projects, details are often revealed," he laughs.
A long wait following the audition led him to believe his selection stood on flimsy grounds, but Vyas admits that the day he got the call was a special one. "From not having an idea about who the director was, to learning that it was such a huge film with big stars was a relief. I said, 'Okay, I have made it.'"
Vyas, who is currently shooting for the web adventure show, Stupid Man Smart Phone, has dabbled in theatre and TV, previously featured in small roles in English Vinglish (2012), Guddu Ki Gun (2015) and Parched (2015). Veerey Di Wedding is a big-ticket outing, but the actor is unfazed by the scale. "As an actor, you move from one project to another, hoping your last fetches you the next. I avoid putting too much burden on one project. You do your best and stay excited about every project; if it turns out to be big, well and good. Then, say, thank you," he says, adding that he has already met director Shashanka Ghosh and co-star Swara Bhaskar to discuss the film.
