Karan Johar was eager to launch Prabhas in Bollywood, but according to a DNA report, Prabhas's hefty fee led to a fallout between the actor and the filmmaker
After the historical success of actor Prabhas' 'Baahubali', which was presented by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions for the Hindi market, Prabhas became a household name with his acting chops and his dedication for SS Rajamouli's grand masterpiece. Post which, bigwig filmmakers approaching him with film offers. Reportedly, Karan Johar was eager to launch Prabhas in Bollywood, but according to a DNA report, Prabhas's hefty fee led to a fallout between the actor and the filmmaker.
A report in DNA states that Prabhas has asked for a hefty charge of Rs. 20 crores for his debut Bollywood film, which shook Karan. A source quoted the daily saying, "Prabhas had devoted five years of his life to the two 'Baahubali' films and it was only fair that he would want to cash in on his new success⦠But the price he asked for was staggering.
While it was okay for him to ask and get his desired price - reportedly in the vicinity of Rs 20 crores - in Telugu cinema, it was unrealistic for Prabhas to expect that kind of remuneration in Bollywood. No South Indian actor, not even Rajinikanth, has that kind of commercial clout in Hindi cinema. Prabhas has clearly out-priced himself from Bollywood," added the source to the daily. Apparently, Prabhas' high-fee has cost him his Bollywood debut through Karan Johar. The source further told the publication, "After 'Baahubali' and its sequel, Karan was keen to launch Prabhas in Hindi cinema. But on seeing the price he was asking, Karan has decided to abandon the idea of launching him." Karan even tweeted a cryptic post on Twitter, which is coincidentally perceived as a sly jibe on Prabhas. He wrote, "Dear Ambition...if you have to achieve your full potential stay away from your arch nemesis....Comparison!"
On the professional front, Prabhas is shooting for his upcoming action-adventure film 'Saaho' by Sujeeth Reddy. The makers of the film revealed the first look of 'Saaho' on his birthday, which crashed the Internet.
