Kangana Ranaut lays foundation stone of her new house in an idyllic location in hometown, Manali; keen to set up an organic farm too

Kangana Ranaut, the girl from the hills, is keen to go back to her roots. She is building a house in Manali, her hometown. Far from constructing a fancy modern home, the actress is going the local way. She wants it to be made in the traditional kath-khuni architecture style of the mountainous state of Himachal Pradesh. Using local indigenous materials like wood and stone along with bricks, the star is keeping the climate and topography of the region in mind to build her new home.

"Laying the first brick of my house was an important decision. I have my own place in Mumbai, and I could have got a house anywhere in the world. But people back home call me Himachal ki beti. I am overwhelmed with the love I receive from my people," says Kangana.

Kangs hails from Surajpur in Himachal Pradesh and comes from a politically influential family. Her great-grandfather Sarju Singh was a Congress MLA for three consecutive terms. Since her family owns several acres of land, the actress felt it was time she had a house of her own on her home soil.

The star has zeroed in on an idyllic location in Manali with a breathtaking view in a secluded area for privacy. She had always wanted to have her own place which would serve as the ideal place to sink into solitude whenever she gets time off from her professional commitments.

Apart from building a house, Kangana has also shown interest in setting up an organic farm, a concept that has caught on in a big way in her home state.
