This marks the all-time highest weekend collections for Dhawan's solo release so far. Not just that, with Judwaa 2, the youngster has registered his second consecutive hit of the year after Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "The film has already recovered its costs and I won't be surprised if it manages to collect R100 crore in its first week." It should be noted that Judwaa 2 also enjoyed the advantage of an extended weekend on account of Gandhi Jayanti yesterday. It should translate into strong numbers on Monday too.
Distributor-exhibitor Akshaye Rathi says, "The popularity of the original film created curiosity about this version. But above all, it has established Varun as a pan-India star." Mehra seconds Rathi's opinion, saying, "He is the only actor among the younger lot who hasn't given a flop. He has understood the pulse of the audience."
