Friends No More?

Priyanka Chopra will be disappointed to hear that Hollywood hottie Gerard Butler has seemingly moved to bigger and greener pastures.

The actor who painted Mumbai red with the likes of Arjun Rampal and Karan Johar, and got interested in Priyanka Chopra (as she claimed) was spotted in Manhattan getting cosy with Jennifer Aniston.

And we know that they are more than F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Soaring ambitions

Those interested in Rahul Roy's disappearance will be delighted to know that it is work in progress for the Aashiqui star's comeback on stage with a play called Begum Sahiba.

No, that's not the name of his character but that of yesteryear sex kitten, Poonam Dasgupta-Luthra's character.

The opening night takes place in early November and Mrs Luthra's ultimate ambition is to take Begum Sahiba to Broadway! Well, good luck with that!

The Movies I Loved Growing Up
The actor lists his pick of flicks...

Mother India: I saw it as a kid with my dad (Suresh Oberoi) and loved it so much that I got myself a video of it. Whenever I get the chance, I watch the film. The mother-son conflict yet strong love made a huge impact on me though it wasn't for kids. To me, it's one of the best films in Indian history.

Sholay: Every kid will have this as one of his favourites and not just me. It's an outstanding film and gives us the wholesome experience of Bollywood with the most complete script anyone has ever seen action, romance, emotions and drama. Sholay is seen as the epitome of masala films.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge:
I saw the film in college and fell in love with it. I have seen DDLJ 17 times in the theatre. I was dragged into watching it by one of my girlfriends.

I thought it would be just another soppy love story but DDLJ changed my concept of romantic cinema forever.

Though I was a Shah Rukh fan having watched Darr and Baazigar DDLJ made me see him in a new light. SRK changed everything for me he was magic! After watching DDLJ, I swallowed my pride and asked my girlfriend if we could go for another show.

Godfather: I saw it with my father for the first time and the impact was major. Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather introduced me to a whole new world of acting.

I had watched other Hollywood films and westerns like The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Some Like It Hot and films of Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin but Godfather blew my mind.

The understated performance by Al Pacino who plays Michael Corleone blew my mind. The cold steely resolve in his eyes was one I tried to portray in Company.

Ben Hur: Magnificently layered and complete as a script, Ben Hur was musical epic meeting Hollywood. It was grand, larger-than-life like we used to have Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra kind of films.

The film came in multiple tracks. I loved the concept of Charlton Heston as the one-man hero and his conquering of every problem his visit to the leper colonies, the big chariot race everything was so grand and huge that it put me in awe.

What's this?

Industry folk were greeted by a text message from Aarti Chabria last Thursday: "Tomorrow's a very special and crucial day for me.

Wanted to let you know my films Toss and Daddy Cool both release tomorrow... both are lovely films and you shouldn't miss any of them. Please take family and friends." Talk about being optimistic and foolish at the same time!

Shenaz Treasurywala, Himesh Reshammiya and Sonal Sehgal at the audio release of their film Radio, produced by Ravi Agrawal and directed by Ishan Trivedi.

Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, Rajesh Khattar and Vandana Sajnani besides Himesh's father Vipin Reshammiya were also present.

Festival fervour

Abhay, the unconventional Deol, seems to have become quite the festival favourite. Next week, he's off to Venice for Anurag Kashyap's Dev D, and the week after, to Toronto for Dev Benegal's Road. Let's hope that it all works out for him!
