Single featuring Sonu marks Indo-American DJ’s first association with an Indian artiste
Indo-American DJ Niles Hollowell-Dhar, aka KSHMR's latest track, Underwater, sees him collaborate with Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam. The number, which releases today, marks the DJ's first association with an Indian artiste.
KSHMR, who previously interacted with Nigam during a jamming session in Los Angeles, tells mid-day, "A friend arranged a meeting with Sonu Nigam at his Karjat farmhouse last year. That is when we decided to collaborate. We worked on a track that I had written two years ago. Sonu and I jammed at an LA studio in August and wrapped up the song within a day."
The track, which will recreate the highlights of KSHMR's early career, is the DJ's gift to his grandfather. "Sonu is my grandfather's favourite singer," he reasons.
Terming his collaboration with KSHMR, 29, "effortless", Nigam says he's already looking forward to their next project. "I have always wanted to explore a collaboration with an international artiste who understands music like I do. I found a perfect candidate in Niles. I'm looking forward to many more collaborations with him."
The release comes a week ahead of KSHMR's first solo India tour, which kicks-off on October 20. He has previously worked with artistes, including Enrique Iglesias, Selena Gomez and DJ Tiësto.
