Ever since JD Chakravarthy appeared in Ram Gopal Varma's Satya (1998), the South actor has often been refereed as âRamu's guy'. However, the actor rubbishes the claim that he only works for the filmmaker and mentor.u00a0JD states, "I âalso' work for Ramu as I don't âonly' work for him. If that wasn't the case, all the 70 odd films that I've done till date would have been with RGV." So far, the Hyderabad-based actor has acted in six Hindi films and five of them have been directed by RGV.
However, the actor admits that he has often come across directors who have scoffed at him for his alleged proximity to Ramu. "Most people assume that I won't work with anyone else. During my visits to Mumbai, I bump into directors who will state stuff like âYou don't work for anyone else but Ramu!' instead of asking âWould you work in my next?'," the actor adds.
The actor is currently in the city to promote his upcoming 3D horror film helmed by Ramu. On being quizzed about the director's infatuation with supernatural thrillers, he says, "Ramu was the first to bring dignity to horror as a genre in Hindi cinema. Before him, horror films were basically sleazy made with the down market audience. Having said that, I love Ramsay movies but they were more interested in numbers than in experimentation."
