If screaming is comedy, then Hum Tum Shabana is a comic masterpiece! Not so long ago we were subjected to Sagar Bellary's Bheja Fry 2. Well, this one gets worse.
Rishi (Tusshar Kapoor) and Kartik (Shreyas Talpade) are two executives of an event management company that is just about to organise a beauty pageant. In a serious case of miscasting, Minissha Lamba plays a young contestant. Rishi and Kartik both fall for the girl and stoop low to win her hand in marriage. But Shabana has a secret. Back home, she is the daughter of a don (Satish Kaushik) who will go to any lengths to keep his daughter happy.
Perhaps the worst movie I've watched in a while, this one actually managed to disconnect me from the goings on. So much so, after a point, it didn't matter where the script was going! Did I say script? Sorry this script is an insult to the term. Not a single dialogue made me even smile, forget the chuckles and guffaws that a comedy is ideally supposed to induce.
Tusshar and Shreyas pranced around in what could easily be the worst written roles of their career. Minissha plays someone who doesn't have a mind of her own with conviction. Satish Kaushik as Shabana's ruthless father hits himself when he is upset and hits others when he is happy. Why, you ask? Logic is not to be expected from this film. Oh yes, the don also goes around kissing people he likes and then says, "Tere pappi mein feeling nahi hai." Huh?
A humble request to director Sagar Bellary of Bheja Fry fame - our bheja is fried enough ufffd let's not take any more chances!
