Akshay Kumar's character in his forthcoming film Housefull finds an echo in what's currently going on in the life of Shoaib Malik and his bride-to-be Sania Mirza.
The actor's screen persona of Aarush finds himself caught in a similar marry-go-round like the Pakistani cricketer. While Malik had to battle with a blast from the pastu00a0-- his 'marriage' to Ayesha Siddiqui, Aarush, too, has to contend with his previous marriages in the movie.
Admits director Sajid Khan, "When the Shoaib-Ayesha-Sania news broke, it was a strange case of life imitating art. There is an uncanny similarity. While Shoaib had two women to contend with, in Housefull, Aarush has three!"
Add to this, the timing of the former Pak captain and the tennis star's marriage dramau00a0-- just weeks before the film's release on April 30. "It is strangely similar," he notes.
In Housefull, Aarush has three wivesu00a0-- Hetal (Lara Dutta), Sandy (Deepika Padukone) and Devika (Jiah Khan). Says Sajid, "All three know about each other but at the same time, they don't know about each other."
He notes, "In one scene Lara is his wife. In another scene, she is his sister!" Similarly, the cricketer had claimed that he used to refer to Ayesha as Maha Apa (ergo how could she be his wife?)
