Bipasha Basu was supposed to start shooting for a comedy, 'Bhai Must Be Crazy', five months ago, but it seems unlikely to take off any time soon. Here's why...

Last seen in the horror-thriller 'Alone' (2015), Bipasha Basu has stayed in news more for her personal dalliances than her work. The actress was supposed to start shooting for a comedy, 'Bhai Must Be Crazy' - a conscious effort to play down her ‘horror queen' tag - five months ago, but it seems unlikely to take off any time soon. Reason? The cast and crew are waiting for a go-ahead from the producer, who happens to be controversial Haryana politician Gopal Goyal Kanda, who became infamous for his alleged involvement in the suicide of former air hostess Geetika Sharma.

The project was announced last October with a shoot schedule in Nepal and Thailand slated for November. But not a single frame has been shot so far. In early January, it was announced that Pankaj Kapur would star in the film opposite Bips. Prakash Raj and Sunil Grover are also part of the cast.

The film's writer-director Vinay Sharma says, "I have not yet started shooting for the film, but I have done a location hunt in Nepal. Bipasha and the rest of the cast are keen that the project takes off. We are waiting for the producer's nod."

Sharma, however, states that he knows Kanda personally and that he had evinced desire to turn producer. "Since he is not from the industry, things are different," he explains.

He also states that he has not yet taken any dates from the cast. "I am hopeful things will roll in the new financial year." However, sources state that the film is unlikely to go on floors any time soon as the producer has apparently done a rethink.

Sharma had penned the Sanjay Dutt-Vivek Oberoi starrer 'Zila Ghaziabad' (2013). He is also writing Chitrangda Singh's upcoming production as well as the biopic on underworld don, Babloo Srivastava.
