Google honours Raj Kapoor on his 90th birth anniversary

Legendary Bollywood actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor was honoured with a special Google doodle on his 90th birth anniversary today

Legendary Bollywood actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor was honoured with a special Google doodle on his 90th birth anniversary today.

The doodle depicts his most iconic character Raj from 'Shree 420', which released in 1955 and contained the evergreen tune, 'Pyaar hua Ikraar hua' picturised on him and co-star Nargis.

The veteran actor-director passed away due to asthma-related complications after he collapsed at an event he attended in order to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988.

Born on December 14, 1924, Raj Kapoor won two National Film Awards and nine Filmfare Awards.

He was also a two-time nominee for the Palme d'Or grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his films Awaara (1951) and Boot Polish (1954).

Raj Kapoor has also been conferred upon with a Padma Bhushan award for his many contributions to Indian Cinema. He is also well known for his role in such classic hits as 'Mera Naam Joker', 'Shree 420', 'Awaara', 'Sangam' and many more.
