The late Andhra Chief Minister YSR Reddy met with Ghai a few months back and encouraged him to set up something like WWI in his state as well for students of the cinema. After his meeting with the minister Ghai has been put on for a speedy action to allot the 20-acre land. The plot is said to be near the Jubilee Hills (one of the most upmarket areas in the city) and the government handed Ghai the land a few days back (October 15).
Ghai also donated Rs 11 lakh to the current Chief Minister K Rosaiah for the CM Flood Relief Fund on the day of the land possession.
Ghai says, "Mukta Arts and Whistling Woods are grateful and are highly encouraged by the government and the people of Andhra to set up thisu00a0 institute here. We stand committed."
WWI already has already opened a branch in Spain earlier this year as a joint venture with the government.
