Dhyan Chand's son says makers will lose rights to the hockey legend's biopic if it doesn't take off by next year

There seems barely any progress in the Dhyan Chand biopic four years after producer Pooja Shetty inked a deal with the hockey legend's son, Ashok Kumar, for a film. Expressing concern over the delay in taking the project on floors, Kumar says he has been pursuing Pooja, but was recently asked "not to text her late at night".

He says, "I am really disappointed. Few days ago, I sent a text message to Pooja for an update on the film's progress, but she asked me not to text her late at night."
On August 21 last year, hitlist had reported how Karan Johar, the co-producer, appeared to have forgotten about the Dhyan Chand biopic even as he announced his newer projects on social media. (Read the report here)
At that point, Pooja had told us, "We have collaborated with Karan Johar's production house and are in the process of discussion. The script work has concluded. Any other information will be shared when the time is right. The film is not stuck."
As per the contract, the makers were supposed to start the film within five years, claims Kumar, adding, "If they fail to do so, they lose the rights to the biopic."
We contacted Pooja for her version of the story. She says, "Work is in progress. We are working on the screenplay at the moment."
