Unhappy with the final edit, Aamir sends Delhi Belly to Los Angeles. Effectively, he won't release it this year
Abhinay Deo's Delhi Belly has been ready and awaiting Aamir Khan's approval for months. However, those waiting for the film's release, will have to wait longer than expected. Sources reveal that Aamir is unhappy with the final version of the film and has sent it to a studio in Los Angeles for editing. With this new development, it doesn't look like the film will release till early next year.
The English film has an ensemble cast comprising Vir Das, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Shenaz Treasurywala, Poorna Jaganathan and Imran Khan, among others. A source involved with the film says, "It's tragic that despite being made in a record time of a few months, the film has been stuck on the edit table for so long. Initially, Aamir was to spearhead the edit but he got busy with his own films."
However, when he did see it, he was not thrilled about it. "And he made that known.u00a0 Since the film has adult jokes and has been made in English, he wants it to be edited like an international project. Aamir already had international distribution plans for Delhi Belly and he thought the film didn't match his expectations."
Recently he got in touch with a few editors in LA and has asked them to work on it. "Aamir will take the final call when he sees the edited copy from LA. After that, he wants to chalk out a brand new marketing and distribution plan for it."
Also since he's been more keen that wife Kiran Rao's Dhobhi Ghaat release this year, Delhi Belly has been sidetracked for a while. Director Abhinay Deo has already moved on from the film and is now working on another project, Crooked.
