>Gauri & Nainika
Takeaway trend: The jumpsuit is hot this seasonWe've been seduced before, and yet we were beguiled by sisters Gauri & Nainika's collection. It was the first time that the Delhi duo were showcasing on Mumbai soil, but that didn't take away from audience anticipation.
The media was excited, and the models gung-ho at the thought of wearing classic, sexy western wear.
The show opened with a band of swelled soufflu00e9 silhouettes disciplined by unforgiving corset chests, as models sauntered to jazz music. The choice of music All that jazz from Hollywood musical Chicago, Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman's duet Something Stupid andu00a0 Frankie Valli's I can't take my eyes off you, caressed the senses, while the clothes kept the mood alive.u00a0u00a0
That inspiration was drawn from the Valentino's atelier was apparent, but no one complained since we believe it was an aesthetic homage.
The calm energy exuded by the large spiral rose perched on the bust of the opening garment worn by model Carol Gracias, and the tulip dress with an organza bow seemed like laborious works of art.
The short length of the garments facilitated skin show, a welcome change from last season when the sisters stuck to ankle length gowns. Their take on the garage guy's jumpsuits was stunning in red, cream and black with rosettes a must-have this season.
When Deepika smiled at GiselleActress Deepika Padukone's resolution to stick to non-colours (she prefers black-white and beige) was disappointing. We would have loved to see her in a smashing red jumpsuit. But it was heartwarming to see her flash a smile at Love Aaj Kal co-star Giselle Monterio, who arrived late for the show.

Manic monday It was a bit strange, but Monday saw more celebs turn up at LFW than over the weekend. Other than Malaika Arora Khan, Urvashi Sharma and Deepika Padukone who walked the ramp for Mandira Wirk, Swapnil Shinde and Gauri Nainika. Love Aaj Kal Brazilian-masquerading-as-Punjabi actress Giselle Monteiro, Arbaaz Khan, Kalki of Dev D fame, Minisha Lamba and Gul Panag were spotted at the venue

Most bizarre bow of the day Designer Rehane surprised all her front row friends on Monday, with a grand entrance that was theatrical in more ways than one. The assertive designer marched on to the ramp, muah-muahed the audience, raised both arms to the air, rockstar-style, put on her glares, took a bow and rejoined the models in a grinning final step.
We would have put her antics down to on-stage excitement except for the fact that the whole performance was rehearsed. Rehane had practiced the seemingly impromptu enthusiasm to perfection; from whether she would wear glasses or not, to the bouncy walk and flashing the sign of the horns.

>Mandira Wirk
Takeaway trend: Zips are embellishments, not just fasteners
I'm living in a material world, and I am a material girl.
The chorus to Madonna's Material Girl could well sum up Mandira Wirk's intelligent Humble Luxe collection. The detailing depicted the plasticity of today's material world. She used zippers not only to hold the dress together but also as embellishment like glitter for the lights. Transparent plastic was everywhere on clothes, bags and shoes. One-shoulder minis, body-hugging jersey halters, draped skirts and bodices, cropped pants. The stunners were a sheer printed colour blocked tunic, an innovative hooded draped silk jersey top teamed with cropped pants, the lapel neckline textured shift with a waist coat and the scrunch effect halter top with wrap skirt.
The slinky orange goddess gown she put Malaika Arora in, though, was a disappointment. Watching her killer body in different versions of the same body huggers has numbed our senses.
