Suhani Dhanki
Actor Suhani Dhanki, who plays the role of Lachi in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's Porus, is passionate about Bharat Natyam. The actor says that the dance has brought in a lot of disciple in her life. "Classical dance is in itself a discipline. In order to learn the art, in addition to dedication to the guru, one needs an immense amount of persistence, perseverance, dedication, surrender, faith and unflinching confidence in oneself.
Dance has helped me bring peace and relieved me of stress in the most trying times. It has teaches you to cope with the pressure and put forth your best foot even when you know you're beaten. It has also made me experience bliss that is absolutely liberating," she says. Ask her who her favourite dancer is, and she says, "My Guru, of course! It was when I saw her dance and when she taught me the first ever basic logic behind the classical art, it compelled me to explore further. She has soul in her expression and joy in her movement," she says.
In fact, Suhani recently performed as well. "It was my first solo performance for this year and it was one of the most challenging ones because I have been constantly shooting in Umbergaon. Plus right before that I was traveling for my honeymoon and was busy with my wedding. So the time to prepare has been quite less. But nonetheless the performance was very well received, and it's delightful to see the audiences that appreciate classical dance," she says.
